Adam Selman studied Fashion Design at Pratt Institute in New York, and after his 2004 graduation, began freelancing in design and pattern making. He worked for Zaldy under the designer’s own eponymous label, as well as creating custom looks and world tours for the likes of Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, RuPaul, Mick Jagger and Mary J. Blige. Selman was also a freelance pattern maker, prop maker, and the art director for Amy Sedaris’s craft book “Simple Times,” and created tours for The Scissor Sisters, Sufjan Stevens and Rihanna, with whom he began working in 2011. Since then, Selman has created over 100 custom looks for Rihanna, and co-designed her first clothing collection with U.K. retailer River Island. In 2013, Selman decided he was ready for a new challenge, and so he debuted his own collection, ADAM SELMAN. He has also continued to design tours and create custom pieces for Rihanna, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, and Lorde and many others while maintaining his label as well as pursuing successful collaborations, most notably with the eyewear company Le Specs. Selman was also named the 2016 runner up for the prestigious CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Award.
