BIBHU MOHAPATRA

For the Spring 2022 season, we’ve been exploring the roots of the infamous Woman’s Building in Los Angeles—formed in 1973 in an act of protest, The Women’s Building offered a safe haven for feminist, lesbian, and bisexual women artists who yearned to create their own space outside the realm of traditional male-dominated art and cultural circles/institutions. The spring 2022 collection is inspired by these feminist artists of the 70s who helped found the Woman’s Building as well as paving the way for contemporary artists they've inspired, including Ebony G Patterson. This collection strings the efforts that gave rise to the feminists movement in the art world, that created a platform for today's female artists.
