Born in New York, originally from Nigeria, raised in London, and now based in New York Teniola “Tia” Adeola is the founder and designer of the designer label Tia Adeola.


Inspired by her background in Art History and deep interest in the Renaissance period, Tia created the first iteration of her brand, Slashed by Tia, in 2016 in her dorm room at The New School. Slashed by Tia quickly amassed a diverse and passionate fanbase that includes women like Gigi Hadid and SZA and press support from top publications including Vogue, i-D, Wonderland, Glamour, and Paper Magazine. Upon graduating from The New School in 2019, Tia formalized her business and transitioned the name of her brand from Slashed by Tia to Tia Adeola in preparation for her first official New York Fashion Week runway show.


Her aim with Tia Adeola is to make bold, wearable art for women, to rewrite history through the lens of fashion to include people of color in classical visual narratives they’ve often been left out of, and to pave a new future by empowering women in her community. Tia continues to grow her namesake brand with projects like her ongoing partnership with Nike and her involvement in Teen Vogue’s Generation Next and 21 Under 21 programs. Tia Adeola will make her first solo brand debut at New York Fashion Week on February 7, 2020.
