This New York Fashion Week, designer label Studio 189 and Yahoo have come together to raise awareness around voter registration and civic engagement through the creation of a limited-edition capsule collection titled ‘Ready-to-Vote’.
“It’s more about getting people involved in their local elections or local activations,” said Abrima Erwiah, co-founder of Studio 189. “We know there is a lot of power in fashion to generate social change and this [partnership] is very consistent with our core values.”
The collection utilizes creativity and culture to drive awareness for voter equity and highlights a beautiful hand-batiked t-shirt, a handmade journal, and a quilt. All products will be available to shop starting September 10th on studiooneeightynine.com.
Proceeds from the collection will support Voto Latino, a national civic engagement organization focused on educating and empowering a new generation of Latinx voters, and VoteRiders, a non-partisan, non-profit organization whose mission is to educate U.S. citizens on voter ID education.
